Seminario de Astrofísica, Cosmología y Gravitación: “Follow-up of interesting AGN with the ALeRCE broker”

Lorena Hernández-García de la Universidad de Valparaíso presenta “Follow-up of interesting AGN with the ALeRCE broker” desde las 14:30 en la Sala 208 de la Facultad de Ciencias PUCV.

Te dejamos el abstract:

A new generation of survey telescopes is allowing us to explore large volumes of the Universe in an unprecedented fashion, detecting and reporting up to tens of millions of varying objects in the sky every night. This requires fast machine learning aided discovery and classification systems, the astronomical brokers. The Automatic Learning for the Rapid Classification of Events (ALeRCE) broker is processing the alert stream from the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF), and is an official Community Broker for the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). Our group is using the resources developed by the ALeRCE broker to select, monitor and study interesting Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). The talk will be focused on showing the tools within ALeRCE that are being used for the development of AGN science, the strategies that we are following, as well as showing some examples of research done using ALeRCE for AGN science.
