El programa de Doctorado en ciencias mención Física, desarrollado en conjunto con la UTFSM, abre periodo de admisión para el año 2023

El Programa es dictado en conjunto por la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) y la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) y está acreditado por la Comisión Nacional de Acreditación (CNA) por un período de 9 años a contar de 29 de abril de 2020 hasta el 29 de abril de 2029. Las postulaciones se reciben en cualquiera de las instituciones que imparten el Programa.

5.- Certificado de grado o título profesional equivalente.

Job description:
The Institute of Physics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in
Chile is opening a full-time academic position (tenure-track) in the Complex Systems to
strengthen
applied and interdisciplinary research in the areas of Non-linear Dynamics, Optics,
Turbulence, Complex Fluids, Granular Materials and Biophysics. Candidates with
interests and experience in applied sciences and R+D+i are highly encouraged to apply.
 
The Complex Systems group at the PUCV consists of 6 faculty members and 4 research
laboratories specialized in Atmospheric Optics, Granular Materials, Microfluidics and
Dynamical Systems. The position includes a competitive salary plus generous research
incentives.
 
The candidate must hold a PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline and
demonstrate that
he or she is an active researcher in one of the proposed areas. Postdoctoral experience
is
desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate
courses in physics. They will also be expected to apply for external funding.
 
The candidate should submit a cover letter with a statement of research outlining how
they
propose to link their work to that of the group, an ORCID author identifier, CV, proof of
their
PhD, and two recommendation letters to the email address dirfis@pucv.cl. The
shortlisted
candidates will be interviewed remotely during the selection process.
 
 
The successful applicant will be notified in November 2022, and the appointment is
expected to commence in February 2023.

Job Announcement

The Physics Institute at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso
(PUCV,  https://fis.ucv.cl/ ) invites applications for a tenure-track position equivalent to
an assistant professorship to strengthen our Astrophysics group in the areas of
extragalactic astrophysics and observational cosmology. 
The candidates must have a PhD degree, postdoctoral experience and a proven track
record in research in astrophysics and/or astronomy. The successful candidate will be
expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics and astrophysics,
striving to offer a positive learning experience. They should also apply for external
funding to support their research as well as graduate students and postdoctoral
researchers, although some internal funding is available for the latter when necessary.
The successful applicant will have access to the guaranteed 10% of telescope time for
all facilities in Chile, including VLT, Gemini-South, Magellan, CTIO, La Silla, ALMA,
among others, as well as the upcoming Giant Magellan Telescope and E-ELT, among
others; they will also be eligible for membership in several large collaborations
including SDSS-V, LSST, ACT, Simons Observatory, and 4MOST/CHANCES, depending
on their interests.
The position includes a competitive salary plus generous research incentives. We
